There is a growing tendency by some elements to furnish all sorts of malicious information against their nemesis in politics, business and personal lives. In the past few days, The Candidates has received numerous propaganda, lies and hate speech against certain individuals from various peddlers.

When you analyze the sequence and content of this information, it is clear it carries lies that are meant to assassinate personality.

World over, it has become a tendency for political and business rivals to use the media to tear apart the reputation of their competitors in pursuit for edge. We saw this kind of behavior when Donald Trump – using his allies – sponsored scathing propaganda against Hillary Clinton which essentially ‘manufactured’ a different personality from the Clinton everyone knew to an evil one.

In our country, and in these contemporary times, falsehood has taken the place for truth. Unscrupulous people can easily disseminate lies, propaganda against their rivals with ease using pseudo names on social media or through underground guerilla platforms.

For some time now, The Candidates has received so much information about a lot of people in both public and private sector. It turns out; most of this information lacks proof and therefore, is lies and propaganda.

When you analyze the sequence and content of this information, it is clear it carries lies that are meant to assassinate personality.

The Candidates was not established to peddle some sort of agenda for anyone using lies and propaganda. We are a responsible platform fully registered and accountable for what we do. We are not in the business of denting people’s reputation. When we publish information, we do so on account of having sufficient evidence or if the suppliers of that information commit that should it turn out false and when the parties involved seek redress in courts, such sources will be available to account for the information shared to us.

We are saying this because we want to put one particular issue to rest. There are some elements that have been sending us false information against Bokani Soko. These elements have even offered to pay to see certain lies, propaganda published against Bokani on The Candidates.

First, these lies started with claims that Bokani left the country after the election results were announced and secondly, that he is responsible for repaying monies on behalf of Patriotic Front (PF) ministers who illegally stayed in office. After our investigations, it turned out that all those are false claims. There are equally other many falsehoods that have been shared with us which we have refused to publish for lack of truth, but have been spread on other platforms.

We are not here to do some sort of PR for Bokani. We do not know him from anywhere and we do not wish to know him. We are here to publicly send a message to all elements that have so far furnished us with lies, propaganda which they want to use to tarnish not only Bokani but all other. If you are going to be a source, do so with truth or else keep your lies to yourself.

If you have an issue with Bokani, The Candidates is not a platform to settle those scores through your lies and propaganda. There are many unscrupulous platforms that feed on such lies, propaganda. We have no problem exposing Bokani or indeed anyone as long as there is enough proof to substantiate those claims.

We do not entertain false information to dent reputations. If you have an issue with Bokani or indeed someone, face that person and tell them your problems than trying to use others to fight your battles.

We uphold professional journalism ethics of source protection but it should be stated that source protection is only exclusive to those with truth.

We hope that all those that have attempted to use The Candidates to fight their battles will learn one thing or the other. We will not have the courtesy of hiding details of those spreading falsehood, always.
