Zambia Police Question Lawyer Bokani Soko in Lusaka Investigation
Zambian police in Lusaka have questioned prominent lawyer Bokani Soko as part of an ongoing investigation involving individuals linked to former President Edgar Lungu.
According to reports by Africa-Press, Mr. Soko was summoned to Police Headquarters at around 09:00 hours on Thursday, where he arrived accompanied by his legal representatives. He was subsequently interviewed by officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Authorities have not officially disclosed the reason for his questioning. Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga stated that an official update will be provided once the process is completed.
Sources cited in the report suggest that Mr. Soko’s questioning may be part of broader investigations involving figures within Mr. Lungu’s former close circle. This follows recent reports of law enforcement searches at properties linked to former presidential adviser Hibeene Mwiinga, whose farm was reportedly placed under police guard during ongoing inquiries.
Mr. Soko came into public attention in connection with GrandView International, the company associated with the supply of fire tenders to the Zambian government—an issue that previously drew public debate over procurement pricing.
It is important to note that no formal charges or proven wrongdoing have been publicly confirmed at this stage, and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven otherwise through due legal process.
